About me

My name is Ethan Mullen, and ever since learning how to match the RCA cable colors to get the game console working right as a kid, I’ve been fascinated with technology. I graduated from San Diego State University in the fall of 2023 with my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and returned to complete my master’s in Computer Science in May 2026.

I’ve worked with all kinds of technology, from server hardware to 3D printers and Python to C++. If there’s a project involving something I haven’t worked with before, I’m usually interested in figuring out how it works. That curiosity has led me into areas well outside what I originally learned in school, and I’ve found that some of the projects I enjoy most are the ones where I have to learn as I go.

My favorite part of a project is the “aha” moment when you’ve finally figured out that tricky roadblock and, with the understanding you’ve gained, you can be off to the races. I recently experienced this while troubleshooting the first problem with one of the structured cable runs I was extending. Once I figured out what had gone wrong and corrected it, the rest of the work started falling into place. The rest of that day flew by, and I finished the project on time.

I’m currently looking for opportunities where I can keep doing exactly that: taking on unfamiliar problems, understanding how all the pieces fit together, and building solutions that I can feel confident were done the right way.
